For enrolling members in the "Lions Cancer Care Society" both

Lions and the public to ensure that our projects are well known

to the society and involve them in our activities to gain public

acceptance.

ii) Medical Camps

To create an awareness in rural people about personal hygiene and identifying diseases of the heart, lungs, kidneys and early detection of cancer, diabetes etc. through medical camps and help prevention and control of dreadful diseases.

iii) Aid to Government Hospitals

Government hospitals need special care as they are the only source of medical assistance to the economically weaker sections of the society. Many of them are under equipped and lacking in amenities. Our service is essential to make the hospital more used friendly.

iv) Helping the Disabled

The disabled are usually a neglected lot. Our service should bring them back to the main stream. Sympathy is not what they want. They want your support to lead a normal life. Providing artificial limbs, calipers wheel chairs etc. will help them in this direction.

v) Cornea Transplantation

We are blessed that we can enjoy the beauty of nature. Visually impaired are a most unfortunate lot. We can help them by cornea transplantation. Eye donation is the noblest act of a human being. With one donation we car restore the eye sight of two. Clubs have put in their best efforts to implement this project successfully.

vi) Financial aid to poor patients

Lions can help poor patients to undergo major medical or surgical treatment. This will help them to come back to normal health and enables them to support their family

vii) Medical Insurance

Medical insurance is now very easy & effective as the field has become very competitive. As friends of the poor we have to facilitate insurance cover to the poor people of the locality so that they are protected.

CATEGORY –C. EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

V) Friendly to literacy

Free education is the reason for the high literacy level of our state. But economically weaker sections of our society need assistance for books, uniforms etc. Drinking water facility is lacking in schools in coastal areas. So also is proper sanitation. Information Technology is a must in the present educational system, but schools in rural areas lack proper equipment. Lions can help in a big way to provide such facilities in schools. Scholarships have to be given to deserving students on merit cum means basis to undergo higher studies in professional institutions.

CATEGORY –D. COMMUNITY SERVICES

VI) Friendly to the Community

We can help the community around us in different ways. The existence of a Lions Club should be known to the locality through our involvement in their welfare through our service projects. We should "Foster Our Friendship Through Service" as the worlds largest and effective service organization.

Friends, what I have enumerated above are programmes which we have to implement in our newly formed District. You have elected me as your leader and I assure you my co-operation and support for fulfilling all the programmes working with you during the ensuing lionistic year. Let us bring glory to our District working together forgetting all petty differences in the true sense of our motto " WE SERVE"
